Last weekend God was telling me that in the waiting period, He is working things out for opportunities in the future. And now, I want to share this encouragement for you in case you’re in a season of waiting.
First, I came across the podcast Monetizing Mompreneurs, and the guest for this episode is Dorina Lazo Gilmore-Young, an author, speaker, podcaster, teacher, mom of three girls, and wife. I’ve followed her for years, so I decided to listen when she posted this episode in her newsletter.
In the episode, she tells us that she published her first children’s book in 2010; however, there was a ten-year gap until the second book was published because she received countless rejections and reasons why her book wasn’t a right fit for different publishers. Dorina says that when she finally connected with an editor, it was God working it all out because when they were sitting down to discuss various topics, everything that the editor was looking for Dorina had in her files.
During those ten years, Dorina was still writing, connecting with God, and being faithful. Eventually, when her time came, God provided her with the opportunity to publish her second book.
“The waiting time isn’t time wasted; nurture your relationship with God during this period,” – Dorina.
Second, my family and I visited a new church, and the message was, ‘Something good is coming.’ The pastor preached on the book of Ruth; if you’re unfamiliar with the book of Ruth, I’ll summarize it quickly. Noemi lost her husband and two sons, and all she had left were her daughters-in-law, but she told them to return to their country because she had nothing left for them.
One of them left, but Ruth stayed with Noemi. She didn’t know God’s plans for her, but she was faithful, and at the end of the book Ruth remarried Boaz, who owned a field (this was a big deal). After experiencing the loss of her husband, Ruth remained faithful, and goodness returned to her again.
The pastor kept repeating, “Something good is coming.” We cannot lose hope during the storms; we cannot stay stuck in that place; we must believe something good is coming. God provides opportunities when we least expect them when we aren’t even looking for them, but it’s all in His timing.
The pastor gave two different examples of when opportunities were presented to him without him seeking them, and it made me think back on my life and when God has done that for me too.
So, if you are in the waiting period right now, I want you to know that something good is coming. Your opportunity will come in God’s perfect timing, and you’ll realize why it happened when it happened.
Stay hopeful and nurture your relationship with God. But most importantly, stay faithful! God is with you and working things out for your good.
“In their hearts, humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Proverbs 16:9 (NIV)
With Love, Heidy
