I’ll Always Be A Writer No Matter Where I’m Writing
My daughter asked me the other day what inspired me to start writing. And I couldn’t give her an answer. I thought about it and just said I’m not sure. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always liked writing. When I was younger, I would have different dairies and wrote in them daily. I loved going back and reading what I did on a certain day, things I wouldn’t even remember doing.
I wrote stories, songs, poetry, anything you could write I wrote. Was I good? Probably not, but I never shared my writing with anyone. Except for one time in 7th grade, I shared my poetry notebook with my friend, and she told me they were good.
Writing came easy to me; even in college, writing papers was never a hassle for me. I’ve always expressed myself better in writing than in speaking. Writing is my talent.
Looking back at my writing journey, I’ve grown significantly and evolved. When I started my blog in 2014, I had no idea what I was doing. I wanted to use it as an online journal, share my experiences, and something to read back when I was older to remind myself of all I’ve gone through.
1. Why this, why now
Writing has always been a hobby and an outlet, but I've wanted it to be more for the past few years. I've gotten paid for writing here and there but nothing consistent. I want to build a following, and I've tried different platforms where to produce my writing, so now I'm trying this way. I can always go back to my blog if this doesn't work.
2. What kind of community am I building?
I want a supportive community that enjoys my writing. And not only my writing but my point of view on certain topics. I love having intellectual conversations. I love learning about other people’s points of view, and we can respectfully disagree, but at least I can see where you are coming from. I also want to build a safe space to share my true honest thoughts.
3. What to expect
You can expect a weekly post on Monday mornings. The topics can vary from personal experiences, poetry, faith-based encouraging posts, book reviews, and my opinions on things happening in the world.
4. Let me know your thoughts
Engage with me. Let me know your thoughts on my posts, I love feedback! I hope you enjoy reading my thoughts as much as I love writing them out for you.
With Love, Heidy
