This is how I picture all my subscribers when they get a new post every Monday! LOL
When I first started this newsletter I liked the fact that I could do paid subscriptions. I’ve never had paid subscribers before so this is new to me. The original plan was to turn them on when I hit a certain number of free subscribers, however, I wrote a 1,000+ words article in response to the podcast The Witch Trials of JK Rowling and cancel culture. And honestly, I’m not trying to be canceled, LOL.
So, I was thinking about where to publish this article - of course, I thought about Medium and then I thought, I can send it to my paid subscribers because they won’t cancel me, right? I mean they are paying and supporting my writing, although the free subscribers are supporting too. In conclusion, it’s time to turn on paid subscriptions.
What does this mean moving forward? I will have content that is only for paid subscribers and I’ll have content that is only for free. I’ll still publish weekly, that won’t change, but if you’re a free subscriber you won’t see all the posts.
Earlier this year, I wrote an article on Medium asking myself if I was afraid of success, and in the end I realized it wasn’t success I was afraid of, it was people’s judgments, and cancel culture, (which has gotten ridiculous). I’m hoping that those who decide to support my writing financially will be open to my opinions, life experiences, and raw feelings because that’s what I want to share with my audience, but people can be cruel, especially online.
Anyways, now I feel like I’m rambling. I wanted to let you know that this change was coming before I turned on paid subscriptions. Next week’s post will be part one of the podcast response, I mentioned earlier, and it will be for paid subscribers.
Thank you so much for your support! I love you all so much!
With Love, Heidy
