The Beach, a Devotional Book, and a Letter
What Do These Things Have in Common? Absolutely, Nothing but Read This Anyways.
The Beach!
The beach is one of my favorite places to be. The sound of the waves relaxes me, and the beauty of God’s creation always leaves me in awe. I feel closest to God at the beach. So, it made sense for us to do a little staycation at Daytona Beach.
We stayed at a beachfront hotel, and the suite we rented was actually a little apartment; it was so cute! It had a small kitchen/dining/common area, one bedroom with two queen size beds, a bathroom, and a laundry room. Perfect for our little family!
We walked across the street to eat pizza, and although it was windy, Jayden loved the wind! It was the cutest thing seeing his face filled with joy as the wind hit his face. After eating, we returned to the room to watch the Super Bowl.
On Tuesday, we headed to the Museum of Art and Science in Daytona after we checked out of the hotel room. They have a children’s area, and that’s where we all had the most fun! If you follow me on Instagram, check out my highlights under Daytona to see some videos!
The staycation was for only three days, but it was enough to get us out of the house and out of our routine. It was perfect!
I co-wrote a devotional book
I’m not sure if you are familiar with Dr. Tamika Hall, but she is the founder of She Wins Media. She has published a series of anthologies, and I wrote a devotional for the latest anthology. It’s called God Blocked It. Tomorrow at 6 pm EST, I’ll be live with Dr. Hall to talk about my chapter.
I wrote about the first time I was suicidal and how God brought my daughter into my life to give me purpose. Deep subject, I know, but God blocked those dark thoughts and showed me the light.
I have to admit that I’ve been slacking, I’m supposed to set up a page so I can sell paperback copies of the book, but I have yet to do it. If you would like a signed copy, let me know. Maybe that will motivate me more to set that page up, LOL.
Let’s write a letter
I want to finish this newsletter with an exercise. On February 9th - a few days before my birthday, I saw a post on Instagram that said, “write a letter to your future self, one year from today.” I thought, what perfect timing than right before my 30th birthday. So, I did it. I wrote a letter to Heidy for February 9th, 2024. And I’m going to read it on that date!
I challenge you to do the same. Write a letter to yourself a year from today, February 20th, 2024. Write about all you’ve accomplished in one year, all the trips you made, the memories you created, and where you’ll be when you read that letter.
There is power in intention. If you are intentional with what you say and do, it will grow and manifest in ways you’ve never thought possible. So, are you up for it? Let me know if you are, and I’d love to see, a year from now, what manifested and what came out better than you thought. God works in mysterious ways, so trust the process.
With Love, Heidy
