You’ve heard it before, God created the universe in six days and on the seventh, He rested. Jesus rested and there are plenty of verses in the Bible that talk about rest. We need rest. God created us this way so we must make sure that we are resting our bodies to function at our best.
Even for work, if you work a 9 to 5, there are two days of rest. Business Insider has an article about the history of the 40-hour workweek, which was interesting. However, if you have your own business - how do you incorporate your rest days? And I’m asking how not if because you need to have rest days.
Most of you know that I have a career in the medical field and I am a medical coding analyst - so from my job, my rest days are obviously Saturdays and Sundays. But for my business, I recently created a schedule and my rest days are Thursdays and Saturdays.
So it goes like this:
Monday - Writing Days
Tuesday - Promote Podcast
Wednesday - Internship
Thursday - Rest
Friday - Edit Podcast Episodes, Write Show Notes and Schedule Newsletter
Saturday - Rest
Sunday - Content Creation Day/Planning Day
I don’t know why it took me so long to create this schedule but I was tired of being overwhelmed by my endless to-do list and I didn’t want to burn myself out again. You can read my article about the first time I experienced burnout here. So, I made sure to include two days of rest.
If we don’t rest our bodies it will make us rest and that is usually with sickness. Let’s not have to deal with sickness complications. We don’t want that! So, please, make sure you incorporate rest into your schedule. And yes, you can actually schedule it on your calendar as, “rest.”
Hopefully, this is a reminder to at least one person to rest!
With Love, Heidy
Tell me! How do you incorporate rest?
