What is something you want to do, but fear of being bad at it is holding you back?
Come on - be honest, there must be at least ONE thing you want to try, but you think, “No, I won’t be good.
A few months ago, I saw a picture floating around the internet that said:
Your first workout will be bad.
Your first podcast will be bad.
Your first speech will be bad.
Your first video will be bad.
Your first ANYTHING will be bad.
But you can’t make your 100th without making your first.
So put your ego aside, and start. - Edgar Alan Dough
And I posted it on Instagram for Monday Motivation because I like encouraging people to try new things, especially things they want to do.
I’ve shared before how my first podcast episode was a mess! Seriously, listen to it. Here, I’ll make it easier for you; here’s the link. It’s me and my cousin going back and forth, asking, “Can you hear me? How about now?”
And I initially was going to edit that part out, but as I was listening back, I cried from laughing so hard! It was great content. I didn’t think I would use that as an example to motivate people to start their podcasts, but almost two years later, that’s precisely what I’m doing.
My business coach tells her clients to record a few practice episodes, like ten of them, and delete them afterward. Because again, your first ANYTHING will be bad! That’s just how it works. However, the more you do it, the better you’ll get, and soon enough, you’ll start to be a natural.
If you want to start a blog - do it! Find a course, video, or webinar, read a book or more about writing, and start practicing. You won’t become better unless you practice. Remember, your first blog post won’t be as good as your 100th!
Do you want to start a YouTube channel? - Do it! Practice talking in front of the camera before you publish your first video, and it may come out bad but guess what? You cannot get better until you start.
Want to become a podcaster? - LET’S GO! And I’d love to coach you through the process. Everyone has a story that is worth telling!
Here are two facts that I love sharing with people to help them get motivated to start their dreams:
Time will pass - so start NOW!
Life is short - so go for it!
Whatever it is - I’m cheering for you!
With Love, Heidy
P.S. If you need a copywriter for writing services or looking to launch a podcast – let’s get in touch; I want to create with you!
