Your Intention Changes Everything
Open Yourself up to Opportunities and Possibilities.
At the end of January, I facilitated a podcast panel, for the first time, at The Besties Boardroom Conference in Jacksonville, FL. It was the first time Ashley had hosted a conference, but she had attended many and noticed a few things were missing, so she decided to fill those gaps.
She and I met at a business conference last year here in Central Florida and stayed in touch through social media. When I saw that she was looking for a podcast editor, I reached out, and she told me about her conference. She decided to have me facilitate the podcasting panel and help her edit the first season of her podcast.
I got to Jacksonville on Sunday night for the speaker’s dinner, and instead of having a dinner with just the speakers, Ashley brought dinner to a women’s and children’s shelter, and we served them dinner and listened to their stories. This reminded me of my trip to the border last year when we went to a migrant shelter to have lunch with migrants and their children and listen to their stories. It also reminded me of when I was pregnant and homeless. I am forever grateful to my friend who opened the door to her house while I figured out my living situation before my daughter was born.
On Monday, it was VIP day! This day was all about implementation. We created media kits for our business, launched quizzes (you can take mine here), and created AI twins to make marketing and online posting easier. One of the biggest takeaways from the VIP day came from KJ, who talked about getting clear on our messaging online. She said you need to know:
Who you are
Who you serve
How you serve them
Why does it matter to them
Where is your audience
Day one had a lot of panels. There was a panel on wellness, balancing motherhood and business, authors, and more.
Day two of the conference was all about strategies. We discussed different types of content and marketing strategies for your business. For example, you can use a book to market your business or podcasting! ;)
Day two was when I facilitated the podcast panel, and it honestly was a lot of fun! Before hitting the stage, I was nervous, but once we got to talking, it was just a casual conversation. I reviewed the questions beforehand and numbered them in the order I wanted to ask them. I kept my eye on the clock to make sure we didn’t run out of time.
I got so many compliments afterwards about facilitating the panel, and it made me feel so good since it was my first time!! Cannot wait to do it again!
After the conference, there was a nightgown and networking party, but I did not change into my PJs because I was ready to head back home. I stayed for a while to network, and while I was networking, I received a DM about an opportunity to record a live podcast.
And this is what I mean by intention changes everything. When you make a decision, the energy shifts, and your mind and your body are open for opportunities to make that decision happen. I created an ultimate vision board back in July, of the life I want to live, and I added a picture of a stage with a microphone because, yes, I’d love to speak on more stages. It doesn’t necessarily have to be me being the keynote speaker, but panels, facilitating panels, leading workshops, and breakout sessions.
Another big goal of mine, I’ve been saying for years, is to travel to my guests to record more in-person interviews. I would also like more opportunities to record live podcasts. And that was the opportunity that was presented to me! But it happened because I put my intention out there and decided that was what I wanted.
You have to put yourself in uncomfortable positions in order to be ready to receive and grow. This was the first time I was facilitating a panel on a conference stage in front of 100 women!
I’ve also been very inspired by a podcasting friend I met at Bestie’s Boardroom, Jenifer Ortiz. She hosts the She Roar’s Podcast and has been doing a lot of live podcast recordings. We actually recorded an episode for her podcast at the conference about my show. I believe she recorded like four episodes at the conference! I am so inspired because she doesn’t make it complicated. She uses her phone for the video, and she has wireless microphones! That’s it!
Jenifer has been recording podcasts in London, Paris, New York, Nashville, and she even came back to Orlando to do another live podcast recording at another event!
The same is possible for you! Make the decision and set the intention.
My intentions have always been to learn and serve. And I do things, even if I’m scared, because to me, it’s better to live life trying new things and figuring out that it wasn’t for you, than to live with the regret of, “I should have done it when I had the chance.”
I will be going back to Austin, TX, for the “House of Chingonas” 2026! I will be interviewing the founder of The Latina Foundation, Bessy!
I will also be facilitating a conversation all about podcasting. I will share my story on getting started with my podcast and answer questions about podcasting!
If you can, I’d love for you to join me. The event is free!
It’s 2026, and it’s time to stop playing small. You need to take up space! And I’m with you every step of the way!
Thank you as always for being here!
With Love, Heidy
